Irmik Helvasi (Semolina Halva with Pine Nuts)

This is a dessert my father used to make for me. It’s a variation of Turkish halva. Its quite sweet, so enjoy it at room temperature and in small portions. It’s nice as a late night snack with a glass of milk.

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups of durum semolina (Irmik)Irmik Helvasi
 2 cups of milk
 1.5 cups of sugar
2 table spoons of pine nuts
 125gr butter

PREPARATION:
Melt the butter and add the pine nuts.
Fry the nuts until they are golden brown.
Add semolina and mix everything well.
Add milk, lower heat and cover pot. Cook until small holes appear on the surface of the “pancake”.
Add sugar evenly and mix everything up.
Let cool off to room temperature, put in small cups, turn upside down on plate and remove cup.

Afiyet olsun (bon appetit).

(Below is a video in turkish that shows a different way of preparing this dish)
